Getting started

01What does BlueAnchor do?

We are a distribution and trading company for silicone products. You tell us what the part has to do; we match it to the right grade and form, and supply it with the specification you need.

02What is silicone rubber, and why use it?

Silicone is a rubber that keeps its properties from very cold to very hot, from around −60 °C to +300 °C depending on the grade. It does not crack in sunlight, is safe with food in the right grade, and lasts for years. That is why it is used in ovens, food lines, medical equipment, batteries and power lines.

03I don’t know which product I need. Can you help?

Yes, that is most of our work. Tell us what the part touches, how hot it gets, whether there is pressure, and the size. A photo of the old part or a drawing helps. We will suggest the grade and send the datasheet with the price.

Choosing a product

04Which grade do I need for food contact?

For sheet, the Food Grade Sheet or the High Temperature Sheet (60H) for hotter duties. For fluid lines, our Tubings are compliant with FDA 21 CFR, and the Food Grade Platinum Tube suits peristaltic dosing pumps. Tell us the temperature and what the food is, and we will confirm.

05What is the difference between platinum-cured and peroxide-cured silicone?

Platinum-cured silicone leaves no peroxide by-products, which is why it is used for pharmaceutical transfer, sterile lines and pump tubing. Peroxide-cured grades give excellent temperature and tear resistance at a lower cost for general use.

06What do Shore A, tensile and elongation mean?

Shore A is how hard the rubber is (20 soft, 80 firm). Tensile is how hard you can pull before it breaks. Elongation is how far it stretches before it breaks. Every product page explains the terms it uses.

07Can you supply a profile from my sample or drawing?

Yes. Most of our rubber profiles are sourced against a customer sample or drawing, in six grades, with colours matched to your sample. Sleeves, cords and strips are also made to order.

Ordering

08How do I get a quote?

Add the products you are interested in to your enquiry, then send it by WhatsApp or email from the contact page. Or simply message us with the product, size, quantity and what it will be used for.

09What should I include in my enquiry?

Four things: the product (or what the part does), the size, the quantity, and the conditions it works in: temperature, pressure, and what it touches. A drawing, sample photo or existing spec sheet speeds things up.

10Do you work with buyers outside India?

We work with both domestic and international sourcing requirements. Send us the destination along with your requirement and we’ll tell you what we can supply.

11How long does delivery take?

It depends on the product, size and quantity. We confirm the delivery date together with the quote, before you place the order.

The terms, explained

The words you will see on product pages and datasheets, in everyday language.

Shore A
How hard the rubber is. 25 is soft like a rubber band, 40 like a pencil eraser, 70 like a car tyre, 80 firm like a shoe heel.
Tensile
How hard you can pull before it breaks. Higher is stronger.
Elongation
How far it stretches before breaking, as a %. 400 % means four times its own length.
Compression set
How much thickness it fails to recover after being squeezed. Lower is better for seals.
Tear
How well it stops a small cut from spreading.
V-0
UL 94 V-0: if it catches fire, the flame stops within 10 seconds, with no burning drips.
FDA
FDA 21 CFR: meets the US rules for materials that touch food.
Platinum
Platinum-cured: made without peroxide, so nothing is left behind to leach out. Used where purity matters.
Specific gravity
How heavy it is compared with water. 1.2 means 20 % heavier than the same volume of water.
Dielectric
How much voltage it can block before electricity punches through.
kg/cm²
Pressure. 1 kg/cm² is roughly the pressure of the air around us; minus figures are vacuum.
IP67
Dust-tight, and keeps water out even when dipped under 1 m of water.

Try the terms

Two numbers you will see on every datasheet, made physical.

Elongation

How far does 400 % go?

0 % · its own length
Feel it

Soft or firm?

Drag the press down onto a block, then let go. It gives way and springs back as the real rubber would: from soft like a rubber band to firm like a shoe heel.
